How Hot Weather Affects Coronavirus?

The beginning of August has brought us a heatwave, and there has been much speculation as to if the hot weather can remove coronavirus from surfaces. We will share what information we've gathered on the matter.

We know that viruses such as the flu are seasonal illnesses. Typically people who catch the flu will have it in the winter months, with numbers of people infected decreasing as temperatures rise - which begs the question if the warmer months will help kill Coronavirus.
The World Health Organisation state on their 'Mythbusters' page that 'exposing yourself to the sun or temperatures higher than 25°C does not protect you from COVID-19'. The WHO also goes onto say that 'countries with hot weather have reported cases of Covid-19'. Many other researchers have stated that pandemics do not have a seasonal pattern as opposed to illnesses such as the flu, which can be linked to seasonal outbreaks.
With this information, we would go onto say that sadly high temperatures can't prevent the virus as Covid-19 cases have been reported in various warm-weather countries.
However, seeing as we are still in the summer months it is difficult to provide broad knowledge as to whether the weather can affect Coronavirus infection rates. Right now, researchers are having to use computer modelling programs with very little data to predict whether numbers will increase or decrease because of weather.

Measures we can take to prevent Coronavirus

Referring back to the World Health Organisation's Mythbusters page, 'the best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 1 metre from others.' The page also goes onto say that 'frequently cleaning your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or washing them with soap and water' is another effective way of staying safe.
Let's Sanitise provide automatic hand sanitising stations designed for places that can't give regular access to soap and water handwashing stations for people. We also provide bespoke branding on the hand sanitising stations for corporate clients who would like to add customer touchpoints.
Furthermore, we also provide a 75% alcohol hand sanitiser that meets all of the WHO recommended guidelines.
