International Women's Day 2022

This International Women’s Day we appreciate the achievements of women from all over the world from the past, present and the future. We want to thank and give recognition the women who have inspired us all on a mass scale and the women we have by our side everyday; our mums, sisters, grandmothers, aunties and friends. Last year for International Women’s Day 2021 we educated ourselves on the women who have inspired change to close the gap of gender equality, this year we want to acknowledge the women of the future.

Around 40% of female entrepreneurs launched their businesses as a direct result of the pandemic, this was the case for Let’s Sanitise. Our co-founder, Rachel Cummings said “we had the warehouse to pay for, six vans and our staff who have been with us for years and are our best friends. We had to do something to save their jobs - we had to pivot into a new industry”. This is where Let’s Sanitise was born, out of necessity, opportunity and timing.

We are always gaining inspiration from women all around the globe and we want to highlight some of these amazing women who share the same values with us at Let’s Sanitise.

Greta Thunberg is an 18 year old environmental activist and one of the world’s best know climate campaigners. Greta became well known after she protested outside the Swedish Parliament in 2018 at the age of 15, holding a sign saying “School Strike for Climate” as a way to pressure the government to meet carbon emission targets. Her campaign had a global effect and by December 2018, more than 20,000 students had joined her by skipping school to protest. She received her first of three Nobel Peace Prize nominations for climate activism later that year.

Here at Let’s Sanitise, one of our key values is sustainability and taking steps towards reducing our carbon footprint. The work Greta has done so far has hugely inspired as as she has paved the way for future generations to become more aware where they purchase from and make sustainable choices. As a business and as individuals, we are taking the necessary steps to implement sustainable practices in all areas that we can.

Women make up 70% of health and social care workers, putting them at the heart of the COVID-19 response.

The co-founder of BioNTech (whom created the Phizer vaccine) is Özlem Türeci an entrepreneur and leader in the global health sector and without her work we wouldn’t be where we are today with the development of the Covid-19 vaccine. In addition to Özlem Türeci, we also want to say a massive thank you to all healthcare workers for all their hard work throughout the pandemic.

We wanted to take the time to shoutout some successful entrepreneurial women who have their own start up businesses.
