Difference between vegan and cruelty free products
From our company launch in the summer of 2020, we at Let's Sanitise are all about being vegan and cruelty-free. Over the last few years, we've seen a surge in people adopting vegan and cruelty-free values. With all the new information on the topic, there has been some confusion about the two terms.
Being vegan means not to partake in the consumption or use of any animal products. A cruelty-free certification means that a product or its ingredients have never been tested on animals at any development phases.
Now, the confusion between the two terms is easily misconstrued. If a product is vegan doesn't necessarily mean it's cruelty-free, and the same works both ways. If a product that doesn't include animal products is on the market, a vegan person should check if that product is cruelty-free as that item may well be tested on animals. On the other hand, if a product is cruelty-free, it would be beneficial to check if it's vegan, and the product may include substances such as honey, animal-based glycerin and so on.
The simplest way to determine whether a product is cruelty-free or vegan is to check the back of the label on the product you're buying. If you're looking for a product where you can be sure that no animal was harmed in the making or included in the ingredients, make sure you check that item is both vegan and cruelty-free.
Our full sanitiser collection is both vegan and cruelty-free. For more information on our vegan friendly, cruelty-free products feel free to contact us.
